Its history is intense since the origins and it interlaces with the contrasts between Guelfi and Ghibellines, Empire and Common, before with Federico Barbarossa, then with Federico II. For monaci the cistercensi Effettuare a route between Milan and Pavia wants to say, to the days ours, to cross one of the agricultural zones more rigogliose of Italy. A time, but, was not therefore. Around to Pavia and Milan, therefore like along all the Ticino, one extended, until some century makes, the great planiziale forest that, more in general terms, grew rigogliosa in all the Po Plain. They were the monaci, in the Middle Ages, to start the first reclamations that came then increased after the 1200's from the feudatari. But fù later on that the two more important facts for the agricultural future of these lands happened: in the 1400's the rice arrived in fact from the East and to the end of XVI the century the maize imported from Colombia. The graminacee were in fact destined to upset a earth that the water wealth rendered therefore adapted to satisfy the requirements of these cultivations.
